And one Donegal player was just one lucky star number away from walking away with the €43,409,687 EuroMillions jackpot, while someone in Dublin pocketed a nice €19,736 in Friday night’s draw.

The Cork ticket was bought in the SuperValu on New Street in Newmarket, Co. Cork on Thursday, while the lucky ticket holder in Waterford purchased their Quick Pick ticket in the Post Office in Cleaboy, Tycor in Waterford on Wednesday.

“We have around 40 staff members working in the shop so I know there will be great excitement around the place as word spreads. It will certainly be the most memorable bank holiday weekend for one of our customers, that’s for sure.”

Meanwhile, players in Letterkenny are being urged to check their tickets carefully after a Donegal ticket holder was just one lucky star number away from winning a whopping €43,409,687.

Instead, they matched five numbers and one lucky star to win €281,487 after purchasing their winning Quick Pick ticket in EuroSpar in The Mall in Ramelton, Letterkenny, on Thursday.

Meanwhile, in Dublin, a player in the Ballyfermot area matched five numbers in the main draw to win €19,736. The winning ticket was purchased on the day of the draw in Decies Mini Market on Decies Road.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “What a way to start the May Bank Holiday weekend.
