Investigation Boy hospitalised with serious injuries after being hit by car in Kilkenny

A YOUNG boy is in hospital after being struck by a car in Kilkenny on Sunday evening.

It happened on the Station Road in Thomastown at around 7.50pm.

He was taken by ambulance to St Luke’s General hospital where his condition is described as serious and was later transferred to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin.

The driver of the car was uninjured in the incident.

The scene was forensically examined on Sunday night and the road has since reopened.

Gardaí have said investigations are continuing.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward. Any road users who were travelling on Station Road, Thomastown on the evening of Sunday and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make it available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Thomastown Garda Station on (056) 7754150, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
