Boots have recalled over 30 health products from sale due to the presence of a substance banned from food in the EU.

2-Chloroethanol is a reaction product of ethylene oxide, a pesticide that is not permitted for use in foods sold in the EU.

Products affected are a number of Boots own brand vitamins, minerals and supplements.

Those who have bought the affected items are asked to return them to the store for a refund.

In a statement, the pharmacy brand said: “As a precautionary measure we have chosen to recall all batches of product because they may contain higher than permitted levels of 2-Chloroethanol.”
