Body found on Lambay Island confirmed to be that of missing Elizabeth Redmond

A body washed up on Lambay Island off north Co Dublin has been confirmed to be that of missing woman Elizabeth Redmond.

Gardaí revealed this evening that the remains had been formally identified through DNA analysis as those of Ms Redmond.

Ms Redmond, 52, had been missing from her home in Artane in Dublin since December 12.

A spokesperson said: "The media appeal in respect of missing person Elizabeth Redmond has been stood down.

"An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter."

Ms Redmond's body was found on Thursday, 27th January 2022 by staff working on the island.

The remains were removed to the Dublin City Morgue where a post-mortem examination will be conducted by the State Pathologist.

Gardaí had contacted families of missing people from the Dublin region after the discovery, according to sources.
