Bernadette Connolly’s daughter Jade has paid tribute to her late mum for Mother’s Day.

The 45-year-old vanished from Donabate beach on January 7th 2022. Her body was then located almost two months later on a beach in Blackpool in the UK on March 3rd.

Bernadette’s daughter Jade shared an emotional tribute to her beloved mum online for Mother’s Day on Sunday.

Jade marked her first Mother’s Day without her mum by heading to the beach to write the word ‘Mam’ in the sand surrounded by a giant heart.

The sun was shining down on her artwork, which she decorated with some beautiful flowers.

Captioning the post, Jade said: “Happy Mother’s Day mam. You’re that sun up in the sky… I love you.”

Bernadette was missing since January 7th before her body was discovered on a beach in Blackpool in February, almost two months after she vanished.

She was last seen on January 7 when she was dropped by taxi at the car park of the Shoreline Hotel in Donabate and walking towards the entrance to Donabate Beach.

Her last known activity was a photograph taken on her mobile phone of Malahide Bay from the end of Donabate Beach at 12.38pm.

Her black coat and handbag, which contained her phone, were later found on the beach by a passer-by.

Speaking at her funeral earlier this month, Jade said that she would never forget the day her mum went missing.

She said: “I will never forget the day, the day that changed all of our lives forever. Being told that you were missing, last seen on a beach, the sense of helplessness we all felt.

“Police, helicopters, boats, sniffer dogs, men on horses all out in force trying to find you,” she said recalling that fateful day in January.

“That night I stayed up looking outside your bedroom window, hoping to see your face walk down the road, hoping this was just a dream,” she continued.

“I woke up, this wave came over me… your voice in my ear telling me ‘get up and don't give up’. A feeling of hope, a light in the dark. It was then I needed to fight for you, and I know you know that's exactly what I did.”

“Nothing will ever take your place and I know there will always be a void.”
