Ashling Murphy concert to take place at Tullamore Trad fest

The memorial concert will live stream on YouTube and TG4

A concert dedicated to the late Ashling Murphy is set to take place at Tullamore Trad fest on Sunday.

Ceiliuradh Ceolmhar ar Ashling Murphy will take place at 6pm on Sunday April 10th at the Tullamore Court Hotel.

Acts performing on the day of include Ballyboy CCE, the Macalla na hEireann Tour Group, the Sacred Heart School Choir and Orchestra, and Best Foot Forward.

Family, friends, and groups she previously performed with will also perform on the day.

500 free tickets for the gig were released, and have all sold out.

It will be live-streamed by Tullamore Tradfest on YouTube and TG4.

Viewers are encouraged to make donations to support the Tradfest GoFundMe campaign for The Ashling Murphy Memorial Trust.

A respected member of the trad music community, Aishling Murphy was well known in her hometown and across Ireland.

“We are privileged and honoured to be in a position to pay tribute and celebrate the life and music of our dear friend Ashling Murphy,” organisers said.

The 23-year-old primary school teacher died on January 12th while she was out jogging near her home in Tullamore.

Josef Puska (31), with an address at Lynally Grove, Tullamore, Co Offaly, is charged with her murder.

He was served with the book of evidence at Cloverhill district court on Wednesday.

Mr Puska has not yet indicated a plea to the charges.
