23-hour Ashling Murphy music marathon to take place in Tullamore in memory of talented musician
The traditional music marathon will begin on St. Patrick's day

A 23 hour music marathon, Music for Ashling, will take place in Tullamore next week in memory of Ashling Murphy.
The Killeigh branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann will launch the marathon on St Patrick's Day with a special float in the festival’s parade.
The music will begin at 11.30am on March 17th and come to an end at 10.30am the following morning.
It is set to be held at Teach Ceoil Chill Aichidh, Offaly Street, Tullamore, and all musicians, singers and dancers are welcome to join.
The marathon is in aid of Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service.

The late school teacher was a noted musician and contributor to Comhaltas events both local and nationally.
A local of Tullamore, Ashling grew up there and taught at nearby Durrow National School.
23-year-old Ashling was killed on January 12th 2022 following a fatal assault while out exercising along the canal in Tullamore.
Her tragic death sent shockwaves across Ireland as the country came together in mourning.
A 31-year-old man has been charged with her murder and is currently remanded in custody pending trial at the Central Criminal Court.
