A €100 Fuel Allowance bonus is set to be paid to eligible households in the coming days.

In March the Government paid a bonus of €125, and committed to paying an additional three weeks of Fuel Allowance to around 400,000 eligible households in May.

It comes as part of cabinet's plans to help off-set the cost of living crisis.

The three extra social welfare weekly payments of €33 will be paid mid-May.

The payment, which is part of the National Fuel Scheme, gives those eligible weekly payments of €33 from September to April for approximately 28 weeks.

Applications for the 2022/2023 bonus remain open to those who meet the criteria.

To qualify for fuel allowance you must be on a long-term social welfare payment and are unable to provide for your heating needs from your own resources.
