Fintan McCarthy and Paul O’Donovan earned Ireland’s first gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics as they won the men’s lightweight double sculls.
The duo overhauled Germany to win by under a second at the Sea Forest Waterway, with Italy taking a distant third.
It was Ireland’s second medal of the Games after the women’s four earned bronze on Wednesday.
