
Serious injuries Gardai probe after man suffers serious head injuries in shooting outside Tallaght
It is understood the incident happened in a rural locality in the Blessington Road area of south Co Dublin
Gardai are investigating after a man suffered apparent serious head injuries in a shooting incident outside Tallaght this afternoon.
It is understood the incident happened in a rural locality in the Blessington Road area of south Co Dublin.
A large number of gardai and paramedics are at the scene.
Early indications is that this is not a gangland shooting and it is understood that the injured man is in a serious condition.
The incident happened in what is described as a farmland.
The man who was shot in the head has been rushed to Tallaght University Hospital to be treated for what are described as “very serious injuries.”
A number of detective and uniformed Gardai currently remain at the property.
The scene is located on farmlands along a lane way off the Blessington Road on the outskirts of Tallaght.
The site has been declared a crime scene and gardai are carrying out examinations of the area.
A garda spokesman has confirmed they are investigating a firearms incident.
"Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a firearms incident which occurred at approximately 1pm this afternoon, Tuesday, 22nd February 2022 in the Tallaght area of Dublin.
"No further information is available at this time."
