Gardai are hunting a brazen gunman on a motorcycle who opened fire on a number of men as they got out of a taxi outside a pub in Bawnogue in broad daylight yesterday afternoon.

The motorcyclist fired two shots from a semi-automatic pistol at the group of men but no-one was injured as the suspect fled the scene.

The scene of the shooting has been preserved and examined by local Garda scenes of crime officers.

The taxi has also been technically examined. Gardai say two shell casings recovered from the location of the shooting will be sent for ballistic examination.

Gardai have set up an incident room in Clondalkin Garda Station and the local Detective Unit in Clondalkin is investigating.

However, no arrests have been made to date and enquiries are ongoing.
