It would appear that I had carried a bit of old-fashioned motorcycle race bias when it came to American machinery and I thought that everything from that part of the world behaved like an older 883 from the other American motorcycle manufacturer.
Now Indian Motorcycle, America’s First Motorcycle Company, continue with a range of surprisingly wonderful motorcycles by unleashing the most aggressive iteration of what has now become an iconic motorcycle with the launch of the new Scout Rogue.
This new bike is packed with attitude and edge, all thanks to its aggressive styling and a host of performance-minded features that promises to make the Scout Rogue the fastest in its class.
The first thing that we notice on this new beast is how good it looks. One could easily go through two decent sized Cuban cigars and at least four over-priced coffees outside some sort of hipster hellhole in Dublin 6 while just staring at it and watching passers-by gaze upon it wishing they were nearly cool enough to ride the thing.
It’s dressed with a number of new features. These include a small-yet-effective fairing, a very cool set of mini ape handlebars and a sporty seat. Black is the new black here and this machine looks moodier than a teenage daughter with its blacked-out fenders and valve covers. The 19-inch front wheel finishes the look perfectly.
The sport-style seat provides a pretty cool look while keeping the rider confidently in control of their motorcycle. This new seat provides long-riding comfort thanks to its upraised rear lip, which creates a comfortable ‘bucket’ that keeps the rider planted during hard acceleration. The seat’s interior padding provides the perfect blend of both comfort and support. Its black, leather-like vinyl seat covering provides long-term, all-weather durability.
The proven Scout powertrain - that’s American for engine - packs a serious punch with loads of low-end torque for snappy acceleration. This is thanks to it having a 1,133cc V-Twin that puts out 94hp at 8,000 RPM and, more importantly, a very healthy 97Nm of torque at only 5,600rpm.
The new model should inspire rider confidence with a low seat height and manageable wheelbase, while a low centre of gravity provides decent handling.
The quarter fairing gives the Scout Rogue a distinct look and delivers custom style in a high-profile location at the front of the bike. The quarter fairing is available as an added accessory for Scout and Scout Bobber models and can be colour matched for Scout Rogue models, Scout models from 2015 to 2022, and Scout Bobber models from 2018 to 2022.
Riders can also achieve a smoother, more comfortable ride with increased suspension travel from adjustable piggyback rear shocks. Using twist knobs, riders can easily dial-in their preferred compression and rebound damping settings.
