BikeFest is back at the Gleneagle in the Kingdom

The event kicks off on Friday, June 3, runs for the whole bank holiday weekend, and promises to be an action packed motorcycling event that you won’t want to miss.

Hosted in the grounds of the Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney, a custom bike show with an awards ceremony will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, June 5. All makes and models are invited to take part in this show, not just American machinery. Some of the categories will include the best bike in the show as well as the ‘people’s choice’ best in show.

And no bike event would be complete without a best chopper prize, as well as one for the best trike. Other classes include best classic, best special build and best paint. This year, for the first time, there’ll be a best adventure bike category.

Both of Ireland’s authorised Harley-Davidson dealers will be in attendance. The teams from Dublin as well as Waterford H-D will have both new and used bikes on offer, as well as a shop full of rider equipment including clothing and accessories.

Back this year is the technical area. Hosted by Waterford Harley-Davidson, the ‘Tech Tent’ is located next to the Bike Village, where the team will offer full service facilities. They’ll also have diagnostic equipment for all Harley-Davidson motorcycles. So if you need something sorted on your steed, this is the time to do it.

Meanwhile, over at the Harley Bar, the Harley Owners Group (HOG) will be on hand with all the latest news as well as the all-important event schedules for the weekend. Here is where you can register for one of the guided ride-outs on the Wild Atlantic Way on Friday and Saturday. Register at the ‘Demo Tent’ to test ride one of the many bikes on the official H-D test fleet which will be available to ride over the weekend.

This year’s demonstrator fleet is larger than ever, with all the usual models as well as the new Panamerica, Sportster and the Bagger, all of which offer a whole new riding experience for H-D afficionados as much as they do for riders of other brands.

The team will also be introducing the new Serial1 eBicycles Experience. These are powered by Harley-Davidson and offer a whole new type of riding. They are being presented in conjunction with the Jumpstart experience where visitors get to enjoy the brilliant LiveWire motorcycle on a rolling road.

All three HOG chapters in Ireland – Celtic Thunder Chapter Waterford, Gaelic Chapter Dublin as well as Belfast Chapter – will be running guided ride-outs over the weekend. These will include the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula. Once again, all makes and models of motorcycle are more than welcome to take part.

Always a highlight of the weekend is Sunday morning’s parade. This leaves the Bike Village in the grounds of the Gleneagle Hotel at 11am and takes in a lap of the town before returning to the bike village and the rest of the day’s events.
