RTÉ have also ensured that the production will follow HSE guidelines, maintaining that “strict social distancing and health and safety [will be] adhered to throughout the competition by all crew and families taking part.”

The winners of the show will be crowned Ireland’s Fittest Family and also take home a cash prize of €15,000 – the only requirements are that each family must be comprised of four immediate members and that all participants must be at least 14 years old by July 1st 2021.

RTÉ are expecting to receive lots of applications to appear on the show after the popularity of the previous season, with over half a million people tuning in to watch the Season 8 finale back in February.

This was the highest rating recorded in the history of the programme, which saw the Mahoney family take the crown in an epic finale in a battle with three other families.
