2020 Mouton Cadet Classique

2020 Barramundi Pinot Noir

Now that barbeque weather is here, this week we are taking a look at a couple of red wines that would be perfect with any sort of meat, a classic and very famous red wine from Bordeaux and a lighter style red from Australia.

2020 Mouton Cadet Classique €13.99

Mouton Cadet is the oldest wine brand in the world. It was created in the 1930’s one of France’s most famous producers, the Baron Philippe de Rothschild. This French red wine is made in Bordeaux using a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The wine has lots of dark fruit flavours of plum with hints of spice and the tannin is soft, but there is just enough of it for it to match well with steak. All the grapes used in the production of Mouton Cadet are sustainably farmed. Mouton Cadet is currently available in Carry Out Off licences on offer at €11.99.

2020 Barramundi Pinot Noir

2020 Barramundi Pinot Noir €11.00

This great value Australian red, is made from a very popular French grape Pinot Noir. The home of Pinot Noir is Burgundy where they produce world class wines using this grape. It is grown all over the world and is gaining in popularity.

Pinot Noir tends to make a lighter in style of red wine which makes it ideal for drinking during the summer months. This wine is easy drinking with lots of cherry fruit backed by a hint of smoke and vanilla. Try it with grilled salmon or with roast chicken and all the trimmings. Available in independent off licences.
