TODAY we’re celebrating the official arrival of the Spring Equinox with two brand new wines to the Irish market, a Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon from Spain.
2021 Faustino VII Sauvignon Blanc €13
Great to see Sauvignon Blanc launching a new source here from Spain, from the La Mancha region. Faustino is one of Ireland’s most popular wine brands.
This month they are launching two brand new wines to their VII range. The white is made from Sauvignon Blanc, a French grape now planted all over the world. Wine drinkers love Sauvignon Blanc for it’s aromatics and crisp zesty acidity. This one has lovely tropical fruit aromas but when tasted all that zesty acidity and citrus flavours. Serve with goat’s cheese salad.
2020 Faustino VII Cabernet Sauvignon €13
Cabernet Sauvignon is another French grape, that is widely planted all over the wine world. There is plenty of it in Spain and this one is made from old vines grown in Navarra, the region next door to Rioja where Faustino makes their famous wine range. This is a very fruit forward wine with lots of blackcurrant fruit and spicy hints of vanilla and chocolate. A great wine to match with meat.
