Tweed all about it

On these pages, I’m feeling more of a slow January, sartorially and emotionally speaking, so I’m bringing you the latest edit from the enormously talented Aoife McNamara.

Most of the collection is handmade in Dublin, using sustainable fabrics such as cruelty-free pea silk, organic cotton and Irish wool. The award-winning designer has even created pieces made with innovative SeaCell, a lightweight fibre created using naturally sourced seaweed.

The Limerick native follows a made-to-order model producing only small production runs based on demand — a more ethical and sustainable approach that eliminates overproduction and reduces the risk of excess stock.

I’ve fallen for the grey Irish tweed suit (left) flecked with strands of lime green. The custom tweed is a collaboration with John Hanly Woollen Mills in Tipperary, and elevates tailoring to a whole new level.
