Let’s be honest, nobody’s perfect when it comes to reducing fashion waste. I’ve bought and worn the t-shirt when it comes to mass consumerism. I’m also guilty of heading to the virtual checkout, many, many times, and added yet more cheap filler to my wardrobe — but I’m hoping to change that.

As the sustainable fashion movement has grown so much here in Ireland over the last few years, I have designs on ethical Irish fashion made to last a lifetime. Sustainable, delectably slow design that has character in its very DNA and Louth sisters Ruth and Jane Flanagan, of Style Ignite Studio fit this brief exactly.

Launching an enchanting autumn/winter range after the success of their debut collection last spring, the duo are intent on ensuring their brand is as ethical as possible. Using certified organic cotton — not just because it’s soft and breathable, but because they endeavour to support organic cotton farmers, Style Ignite Studio will also donate €1 to Friends of the Earth Ireland for every sale made.

I dare you not to fall in love with the half zip jumper and oversized cardigans that wrap around you like a warm hug. If you want to get up close and personal, the brand’s first pop-up shop will take place at 32 Exchequer Street from December 2 to 31.

Aoife McNamara needs no introduction — the celebrated Limerick designer has created a luxury slow-fashion brand with a vision to empower women through unique garments made consciously in Ireland.

McNamara’s latest collection — Season 6, dances beautifully around her traditional and modern influences. Designed to be treasured forever, be warned, you’ll want the entire collection.

Hope McCauley has fans in the Hadid sisters and has already appeared in Vogue, so it’s safe to say the Co. Antrim star is putting knitting on the map.

These colourful colossal knits are handmade from 100pc jumbo Merino wool, a high quality, natural, biodegradable and sustainable material.

Audrey Hamilton is well known for her quirky, colourful, and expressive pieces, and the launch of her new apparel brand takes this to a whole new level. Made from 100pc cotton, the jogger and sweatshirts will be the ultimate investment this winter.
