#nofilter: The honest beauty column

On any given week I could be trialling five or six new beauty products — this week is a definite mixed bag, but each product is proving as life-saving as the last. From face cleansers to cream blush, ice rollers and nifty razor blades, here is what I am reaching for on the regular.

Garnier Micellar Reusable Make-up Remover Eco Pads (pack of 3), €7

As we're all looking to clean up our beauty act, reusable make-up remover pads are a no-brainer. I love these Garnier ones which feel like soft clouds on my skin. Just wet the micro-fibre pad with micellar water to cleanse as usual. Rinse it clean with soap and water after every use then reuse for veritable green queen status.

Moxi Loves Power Pod Cleanser, €7.95

Did someone say 'staycation'? Perfect for on the go, these cleansing pods are the definition of small but mighty. Simply mix the powder with a few drops of water to activate a creamy, frothy cleanser that tackles even the thickest of make-up in seconds. Soothing oat and nourishing coconut extracts leave the skin silky soft as well as squeaky clean.

Sculpted By Aimee Connolly Cream Luxe Blush, €18

It is the year of the cream blush - the perfect solution to lockdown fatigued skin. Aimee Connolly definitely got the memo after launching this face-warming hue, available in Pink Supreme and Peach Pop. Boasting blendability with a big colour pay-off, the cream melts into cheeks for a flawless finish.

Brushworks Ice Roller, €15.95

Cooling rollers have increased in popularity of late and I finally get it.

This has been my go-to when I come home from a sweaty gym session. Ice rollers work by depuffing the skin, reducing redness and promoting blood flow. They're also perfect for soothing sore muscles and tension. I let this stainless steel one chill in the fridge for a while and then literally just roll it over my face and neck after a workout. But it is also a great tool to implement in your morning and evening skincare regime. All this week's products are available from mccabespharmacy.com.

L'Oreal Elvive Dream Lengths 8 Second Wonder Water, €10

My hair is going through it at the moment. I did what everyone told me not to do, and got a little heavy-handed with the home dye kits, not to mention my lifelong devotion to heated styling tools. And my tresses are feeling a little stressed as a result. This Wonder Water is a cheap as chips treatment for dry or damaged hair. The rinse-out liquid conditioner is crammed with moisturising agents that form thin, smoothing layers called lamella on the surface of the hair. Eight seconds to silkier, shinier locks this summer? Sold.

Global Beauty Dermaplaning Tool, €11.99

On first glance these razors look a little bit threatening, but believe me, they are a must if you're looking to eradicate unwanted peach fuzz. Dermaplaning is the latest craze to remove dead skin cells and unwanted hair from the face. I use this nifty tool in gentle downward strokes on my brows, upper lip and even to tackle the odd hair that likes to invade my chin. There's zero pain, redness or irritation involved. A real life-shaver.

Aliso Certified Organic Lip Balm, €9.95

I realise I am no longer 18 when I find myself reading the ingredients of lip balms. Yes, I want to enhance my pout, but I also want to feed it the good stuff too, especially because I suffer from dry lips. This natural balm gives your kisser a gorgeous sheen and is also packed with nourishing super-food ingredients. It's a double whammy balmy.
