You may have booked a make-up artist for your dream day, but you still need the essentials for those all-important touch-ups. Here are the products worth investing in.

1. Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish, €42

Bridal make-up usually consists of multiple layers to ensure that it lasts through the day. Keep a powder compact handy in case it starts to crease or you have excess shine or an oily t-zone. This finishing powder will smooth out your skin and leave you with a flawless-looking finish that looks great in photos and real life. You can also apply lightly on top of any lipstick for a matte effect, and on top of concealer to set it for a longer wear. For brides looking for a one-stop-shop, try Charlotte Tilbury's MAGIC BRIDAL MAKEUP KIT, €113, packed with everything from concealer to powder and the beloved Pillow Talk lipstick.

2. Mac Satin Lipstick in 'Faux', €19.67

All that air-kissing and Champagnequaffing will mean your lipstick will fade, fast. To keep your pout perfect, keep your lippie close by. This dreamy pink hue from MAC is a favourite among brides for its gorgeous satin finish and natural pop of colour.

3. Jo Malone London English Pear & Freesia, 30ml, €53.12

Keep yourself smelling fabulous with the occasional spritz of this delicate fragrance throughout the day. Also available in a handy mini perfect for your clutch, this one wafts of just-ripe pears wrapped in a bouquet of white freesias. If that's not your bag, you can also make your own signature bridal scent in-store.

4. Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Blotting Paper, €13.50

Last but not least, blotting paper is a must-have for wedding make-up that lasts all day. Small enough to stash in your purse, a quick dab of one of these brilliant sheets will lift away shine without budging your base.

How it works is simple: I just popped my head into a covered canopy - think photo booth - while the advanced scanner took a series of snaps using a variety of different light modes to give a true insight into my skin concerns.

Afterwards, I had the opportunity to examine the imagery, and I don't mind admitting it wasn't pretty.

Oils, pores, pigmentation and dehydration had nowhere to hide from the Observ.

One close-up revealed the oil clogging my pores, another highlighted the sections of my forehead and nose succumbing to sun damage and wrinkles.

As a result, beautician Maria was able to tailor-make a plan for my specific skin concerns. But the quick and painless process also made me sit up, take notice and realise exactly how much better I could look after my skin - starting now.
