Heel or no deal
From towering stilettos to cute mules and on-trend platforms, high shoes are back, and brighter than ever, writes Denise Smith
Living through a pandemic has eviscerated my ability to make small talk, it’s endeared me to elasticated waistlines forever more, but more alarmingly, it has also depleted my shoe stock.
If you find yourself digging into the back of your wardrobe to find dusty heels that pre-pandemic spent the weekend glued to a sticky nightclub floor, now is the time to spring into summer with some fresh looks.
If you put your shoe fetish on ice during lockdown, you can push your adoration for stacked soles to new heights because killer platforms are back in a big way. Chunky heels stormed the SS22 runways, seen everywhere from Prada to Miu Miu. It should also be noted that pink is the standout hue of the season. Colour blocking and clashing is mandatory so don’t shy away from all the colours of the rainbow. Lace-up heels and multicoloured stilletos are also a vibe.
If you’re still making the transition to life post-trainers, you don’t have to mimic bambi on ice thanks to the abundance of ktiten heels also flooding the high street, I love this pair of Penneys mules. And as always, accessorise with some arm candy.
