Blooming stylish
Karen Millen has teamed up with botanical artist Rui Jiang to craft this stunning Spring/Summer collection, writes Denise Smith
FLORALS? For Spring? Guess what, it turns out they can be groundbreaking. It’s welcome news for anyone who was prepared to take a blowtorch to their favourite flower prints after they were memorably banished to sartorial Siberia by Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada. Bountiful blooms and fresh foliage may be springing up around the countryside and in city parks, but it’s Karen Millen that is truly turning over a new leaf with its Spring/Summer collection. Collaborating with botanical artist Rui Jiang to create an exclusive one-of-a-kind capsule, the brand’s latest prints are putting bold botany centre stage and making your usual go-to spring prints look like insipid wallflowers. The Chinese graphic designer’s creations were inspired by her love of flowers in Britain — think vibrant violas, craning wildflowers and romantic roses, all immortalised in incredible watercolour images.
