Open-minded and practical, Dr Angela Brokmann has answered the nation's sex problems for 18 years. Here, she answers your dilemmas.

Dear Angela,

My older brother (29) told me that years ago, he used to put a pair of rolled-up socks into his boxers before he went out with his friends, because he wanted to look bigger than them to get girls’ attention.

I’m not the biggest, and if girls really check out how big a guy is down there, I don’t have much of a chance.

Do girls first sight? What is the best way to make it look bigger? Should I try the socks trick?

Angela says:

Stuffing socks into your boxers is not a great idea; they could easily become dislodged, making you look funny, or they could fall out at an inopportune moment.

If you’d like to cheat without being too obvious, there is a huge variety of padded and push-up jocks and mboxers on the market, especially designed to show off your bits at their best.

It’s true that women check out a guy’s bulge; sometimes quite blatantly, and sometimes on the sly.

It might not always happen at first sight, but most girls take a sneak peek at some stage.

But while girls might be curious, they don’t pick boyfriends by the package in their pants, so there is no need to cheat in the bulge department.
