A DUBLIN youth has been ordered to stay out of a residential area in the capital after he was charged with impeding a drug search.

Conor Brennan, 19, of Cooley Road, Drimnagh, appeared before Judge Dermot Simms at Dublin District Court on Saturday.

He was charged with obstructing a search by running from gardai at Oliver Bond House, a flat complex in Dublin 8, on Friday. He was also accused of possessing cannabis for his own use after he was searched at Kevin Street Garda station.

The court heard it was alleged he was seen involved in a suspected drugs transaction and ran when told he was going to be searched.

He was later arrested and taken to the garda station and found in possession of a small quantity of cannabis.

The youth has not yet indicated how he will plead.

He made no reply when charged, the court was told.

Defence solicitor Kevin McCrave said his client has agreed to abide by bail conditions sought by gardai.

Judge Simms warned him that he must sign on three times a week at a garda station, and stay out of Oliver Bond House.

He was remanded on bail to appear again next month. Legal aid was granted.
