strimmer attack Man injured in violent attack by unknown assailant armed with garden strimmer in Derry

The incident happened in the Glenshane Road of the city yesterday

A man in his 60s has been attacked by an unknown assailant armed with a strimmer.

The incident occurred in the Glenshane Road area of Derry yesterday.

It was reported that shortly after 9.50pm the victim was approached and attacked by another man wielding the gardening appliance.

The victim received injuries to his hip when he fell while being attacked.

He also received injuries to his head and his hands.

Sergeant Breen of the PSNI said: “We would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who may have any information that could assist us with our enquiries, to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1908 of 29/07/21.
