Gardai from Ashbourne Garda Station are investigating

A man was killed in a fatal road traffic collision in Co Meath last night. 

The driver, who was in his 40s, was in a vehicle which crashed at Cruicerath, Donore, shortly before 8.30pm.

Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene and he was given treatment but sadly was later pronounced dead.

His body was removed to the mortuary at Navan Hospital where a post-mortem will take place. There was no-one else in the vehicle and no other injuries were reported.

The road remains closed this morning to allow for a technical examination of the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
