Gardai have appealed to anyone who saw a hit-and-run incident in Limerick city overnight to contact them. 

A car and a jeep collided near the traffic lights close to the St Patrick's Road junction on the Dublin Road at around midnight last night.

However, there are no reports of serious injuries.

Meanwhile, gardai in Dublin have issued a traffic alert this afternoon following a serious road traffic collision on the M50 southbound between junction 7 and 9 at the Cold Cut Bridge.

“Traffic is reduced to one lane and please exercise caution and reduce speed,” gardaí tweeted.
