The PSNI are investigating an incident in which a recycling centre was broken into in the Carryduff area of County Down yesterday.

Five males have been arrested after the incident, aged 17, 20, 21, 21 and 32.

They were detained on suspicion of theft, criminal damage and vehicle interference.

The incident happened at around 10pm last night after the police received a report that a number of people had been spotted trespassing on the grounds of the recycling centre on the Comber Road.

The police say that after they attended and detained the men, a number of items were recovered, including strimmers and diesel barrels.

A spokesperson said: "We're grateful to members of the public who alerted police and facilitated the prompt arrests.

"Our enquiries continue and I would appeal to anyone with information to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 2083 of 08/06/21."
