sad and frustrated Charity volunteer makes shocking discovery of dead pony in the Grand Canal
'No water left for these poor horses & nobody checking on them except us!'
The My Lovely Horse Rescue charity has expressed their frustration after one of their volunteers discovered this horse lying drowned in the Grand Canal.
The charity posted the distressing image of the pony in the waters of the canal which was taken by one of their volunteers who was left distraught after the discovery.
Under the picture that comes with a graphic warning, the charity has posted: “This poor pony drowned sometime last night or this morning, on the Bluebell Locke nearest Ballyfermot.
“This is why we go mad. No water left for these poor horses & nobody checking on them except us! We are just so sad & frustrated.”
A spokesperson for the charity told sundayworld.com: “One of the volunteers found the horse this morning but we don't know how long it was there.

“We check on a lot of the horses along the canal a lot of the time but we can’t believe that this is after happening.
“We do try to keep an eye on the horses but they get thirsty and they go to the water to try and get something to drink and then they slip in there's no one to help them out again.

“We’ve literally had to get the fire brigade to help us take horses out of the canal before but it’s a really horrible way to die, fighting for its life.
“This one had blue rope around it so obviously it was tied up along the bushes somewhere. And this happens all the time.
“Kids keep their horses along that stretch of the canal and just tie them randomly to bushes to hide them.
“But they don’t check on them. They leave them there without so much as a bucket of water and so sadly, this is not the first or last time we’ll see images like this.”
