Carl Frampton and his former trainer Shane McGuigan became engaged in a tetchy tete-a-tete when they unexpectedly met in England ahead of a boxing match.

Chris Billam-Smith, coached by McGuigan, is due to take on European champion Tommy McCarthy from Belfast in tonight’s British, Commonwealth and European cruiserweight clash in Brentwood, Essex.

Frampton has travelled to the bout to be in the corner of his pal, McCarthy.

The pair met in a corridor when Shane is seen calling Frampton ”a child” for “going all the way over here” while Frampton replied that he’d come to be in his “mate’s corner” as a “water boy”.

There has been bad blood between the pair since the well-publicised legal drama between Frampton and Shane’s father, Barry McGuigan.

Frampton tried to sue former manager McGuigan’s Cyclone Promotions UK for £6m claiming he was owed earnings, broadcasting rights and merchandising cash among others.

McGuigan launched a counter suit claiming Frampton breached his contract by quitting cyclone in 2017.

The pair later settled.
