Lottie Ryan has revealed that she knows the gender of her firstborn with husband Fabio Aprile and held a gender reveal party with their families on Zoom.

Speaking on the Jennifer Zamparelli Show on RTE 2fm, Lottie surprised Jen with her unexpected news.

The pair had been talking about American singer Halsey, who has said that “being pregnant has levelled her perception of gender entirely” since announcing her pregnancy in January.

Knowing that Lottie was pregnant, Jen asked her opinion on Halsey’s statement.

Lottie, who is the daughter of late broadcaster Gerry Ryan, hesitated before revealing: “I know the gender.”

Jennifer couldn’t believe that her pal had found out the sex of her baby and was gobsmacked, probing her to let her in on the secret.

“Tell us! Go on, I won’t tell anybody”

“Lottie, is Fabio happy that he’s having a boy?” Jen joked excitedly.

Lottie remained tight-lipped on the matter, disclosing that she’d have to ask her husband’s permission to share the details.

She shared that the couple refused to let lockdown interfere with their fun, so they held a virtual gender reveal party for their families on Zoom.

“We had a balloon, and it was just the two of us obviously because we’re in Level 5 but we had both of our families watch us on the phones.”

“It was very exciting. We filmed it - we had our families watching on the phones. It was just the two of us in the sitting room.”

The 35-year-old said that she was more nervous popping the balloon to find out the baby’s sex than when she took the pregnancy test.

“It makes it feel so much more real when you find out if there’s a little girl or a little boy inside you. It gives it more of an identity.

She mentioned that mum Morah wasn’t in favour of gender reveals but is still over the moon for her.

“I think my mum might have been a bit annoyed because she left all five of us to be a surprise. She thinks that it should be a surprise."

Lottie and husband Fabio are expecting their first child this summer. The pair were childhood sweethearts and married in 2017.
