A brutal killer who murdered an Irish labourer in Scotland has died while serving a prison sentence for the savage street attack.

Asif Rehman passed away shortly after being rushed to hospital when he became unwell on Monday morning.

He had been an inmate at HMP Shotts, North Lanarkshire, after being jailed for a minimum of 16 years and three months in November 2012 for the brutal murder of William McKeeney in 2012.

The monster stamped the 57-year-old to death, alongside Adel Ishaq, on Glasgow's Melville Street as his partner Anne-Marie Newland watched on in horror from her window.

William was repeatedly punched, kicked and stamped to death, with injuries so severe that footprints were left on his head.

The thugs were deemed "a serious danger to the public" upon conviction.

Rehman's convictions for violence began when he was just 15.

In March this year it was revealed how Rehman left two guards with horror burns after targeting them with boiling water.

The lifer hurled a full kettle at three prison officers in the unprovoked attack at 7.30am in HMP Addiewell, West Lothian, as they opened his cell to serve him breakfast.

A court heard that one victim, Derek Walker, suffered burns to the area around his right eye and the other, Matthew Ferguson had a similar injury to his left arm.

It is understood investigations are ongoing into the cause of death.
