Drug dealer who supplied Mac Miller with fatal fentanyl laced pills sentenced to 11 years

Ryan Michael Reavis (39) appeared in court in Los Angeles and said he did not know that the counterfeit oxycodone pills he provided to another dealer were laced with fentanyl.

Pleading that he was simply a ‘middle man’ he asked for only five years, and said he did not know the pills he supplied caused his death until he was arrested in 2019.

“This is not just a regular drug case. Somebody died, and a family is never going to get their son back. My family would be wrecked if it was me. They’d never be all right, never truly get over it,” he told the court.

“I think about that all the time. And I know that whatever happens today, I’m the lucky one because my family is here and I’m here and I’ll be with them again. I feel terrible. This is not who I am,” he continued.

“My perspective has changed. My heart has changed.”

On Monday he was sentenced to 10 years and 11 months.

The judge presiding over the sentencing, Otis D. Wright II imposed the punishment after prosecutors read a heart-breaking victim impact statement from Miller’s mother, Karen Meyers.

“My life went dark the moment Malcolm left his world,” she said.

“Malcolm was my person, more than a son. We had a bond and kinship that was deep and special and irreplaceable. We spoke nearly every day about everything – his life, plans, music, dreams,” the statement said.

Meyers said that her son, born Malcolm James McCormick, had a laugh that was “infectious and bright.”

She said that their love for each other was “unparalleled” and added that her son’s music and voice “spoke to many people all over the world.”

“He would never knowingly take a pill with fentanyl, ever. He wanted to live and was excited about the future. The hole in my heart will always be there,” she said.

Mac Miller died on September 7th 2018 following an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol at age 26.

He previously dated singer Ariana Grande from August 2016 to May 2018.
