A Colombian hit man who is suspected to have killed more than 100 people, including his mother-in-law,  has been arrested in Madrid.

Known as El Nene or El Satan Colombian, 36-year-old Jonathan Andrés Zuluaga Celemín is one of Columbia's most wanted men.

Zuluaga is believed to be the head of one of the "collection offices" for a Colombian criminal organisation called La Cordillera de Pereira.

They operate around the world and carry out extortion, robberies, kidnapping, intimidation, and murder to collect debts or money owed from drug trafficking.

According to the Colombian authorities, he "used minors" to commit some of his atrocities.

He was first arrested in Spain in 2012 and extradited to Colombia where he was sentenced to 26 years in prison.

However, after presenting false medical documents he was granted house arrest and promptly vanished.

He was picked up again years later, in 2015, in Colombia, and accused of homicide and belonging to a criminal organization.

He was released again after the judge decided the National Police violated his rights and he wasn’t detected again until 2019, when a Citizen Security patrol stopped him on a street in Madrid and verified that he was still under an International Arrest Warrant for Homicide.

He was arrested and brought before a court. However, the Colombian authorities did not send the necessary documents for his extradition on time and was released once more.

However, it was the Colombian police who recently warned the Spanish police that El Nene was still in Madrid and he arrested this week

"He is one of the most feared men in the world of drug trafficking,” Columbian police said. “He was one of the main leaders for years of the so-called Cordillera Office, one of the most powerful and influential cartels and debt collection agencies in the world.

It is alleged that he said, "I'll give you where it hurts the most," when he threatened his wife the day she broke her relationship with him.

On Saturday, June 2, 2018, the body of Sindy, her mother-in-law, was found in the lobby of her own house in Pereira, in Colombia.

Last week, El Nene was behind bars after he went to meet his current partner and mother of his two children in Madrid.

“We had been following her, because our Colombian counterparts had warned us that [he] could be here again," one of the investigators said.
