Police in Paraguay have seized over 200 kilos of Liverpool FC branded cocaine - however, the seizure has nothing to do with the English football club.

The seizure occurred at a home in Pedro Juan Caballero, a border town on Wednesday November 24th.

According to Ultima Hora, a news publication in Paraguay, The National Anti-Drug squad (Senad) raided a home where 500 packages of cocaine were seized, totalling 215 kilograms.

A spokesman for Senad said that after entering the home, they found cocaine wrapped in small packages that were allegedly destined for Brazil.

“It is a structure that is apparently dedicated to drug trafficking to Brazil. This property was raided and a significant amount of cocaine and base paste (also called PBC, which is a low-cost drug made from cocaine sulfate similar to crack) could be seized.”

“Part of the drug was prepared in various loaves, which gives the indication that they were being enlisted for the double-bottomed traffic of vehicles,” he said at a press conference.

The spokesperson added that they believe an inhabitant of the property is involved in the drugs trade.

"There are many issues that were found here, so it is very difficult not to find a link between this person (the owner of the house) and the load.”

Zully Rolón, minister of the Anti-drug portfolio said that it was “an important seizure" and that it came as the result of an intelligence operation between the Regional in Pedro Juan Caballero and the Public Ministry.

The investigation of the case is still ongoing.
