A fisherman about 15 miles off the Florida coast caught more than he bargained for — when he reeled in more than 33 kilos of cocaine.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office that marine patrol were contacted by the fisherman on Wednesday afternoon after he discovered the floating packages south of one of Florida's Keys.

U.S. Border Patrol was alerted since the packages were discovered in federal waters and the cocaine was then taken by border patrol.

Enforcement officers stated that the amount of cocaine found was approximately 33.7 kilograms or 74 pounds. The estimated U.S. street value is $850,000.

It is just the latest shipment of cocaine to be found floating on the sea this month.

A 'ghost boat' carrying 649kg of cocaine worth an estimated €65 million has washed up in the Marshall Islands two weeks ago.

The massive haul of cocaine was discovered hidden in an abandoned fiberglass vessel on a beach at Ailuk Atoll, located between the Philippines and Hawaii.
