Three men are being quizzed by detectives from Mahon Road’s Organised Crime Unit after a major drug seizure in East Belfast on Friday night.

The three men were arrested after officers stopped a grey Skoda Octavia in the Imperial Drive area shortly before 2.20pm.

As officers conducted a search, a quantity of suspected class B controlled drugs with an estimated street value of £75,000 was seized.

The suspected drugs have been taken away for further forensic examinations.

Detective Inspector McCamley said one man, aged 34, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B controlled drug and possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply.

Two men, aged 52 and 40, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class B drugs. All three men are currently in custody at this time.

“By targeting drug related activity not only do we remove illegal drugs from the street, which in themselves cause harm through addiction, debt and their effects on physical and mental health, we also remove funds from the pockets of paramilitaries and therefore loosen their control on the communities who ultimately want to see them gone,” Detective Inspector McCamley said.
