Man 'seriously injured' after assault in Mountbellew, Co Galway

Gardai are investigating the assault
A man is being treated in Beaumont hospital after a being injured in an alleged altercation in Mountbellew, Co Galway early this morning.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident in The Square, Mountbellew at 1.15am.
A man aged in his 20s, was seriously injured during an altercation with a second man.
His condition is described as serious, according to the Garda Press Office.
“Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was socialising in Mountbellew on Saturday night, 11th December 2021 and who noticed any unusual activity to contact investigating gardaí.”

“Any persons who were in The Square, Mountbellew between 12.45am and 1.30am this morning, Sunday 12th December 2021 should contact Gardaí.”

Investigations are ongoing, it was added.
