Man arrested after four shots reportedly fired on railway line in Co Tipperary

A man in his late 20s was arrested after gardaí from Carrick on Suir and Clonmel responded to a call that shots had been fired on the railway line at St Johns, Carrick on Suir.

Witnesses reported seeing two men on the line who were in possession of a firearm and that four shots had been discharged.

Gardaí later executed two search warrants on two local houses where they discovered a small quantity of drugs.

The man in his late 20s was arrested on Tuesday and detained at Clonmel Garda Station under section 30 of the offences against the state act 1939 and detained at Clonmel Garda Station.

He was released from custody the following day, while a file is prepared for the DPP.
