A man in his late 30s is being quizzed by gardai after drugs worth a total of €74,350 and €125,000 in cash were seized in raids carried out in Clondalkin yesterday.

A number of search warrants were executed by officers of the Divisional Drugs Unit in Ballyfermot involved in an operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs and the proceeds of crime.

During the course of one search, cannabis with an estimated street value of €65,250 was seized along with cocaine with an estimated street value of €9,100.

The drugs seized will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

In a separate search of a premises €125,000 cash was seized.

The man was arrested at the scene of one search and taken to Clondalkin Garda station where he is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

He can be detained for up to a period of seven days.

Gardai said the seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris in July 2021.

The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
