Jason Corbett’s sister has called for his killers to be sentenced to life in prison in a social media plea.

The Limerick father-of-two was beaten to death on August 2nd 2015.

His wife Molly (37) and her father Tom (71) Martens were convicted of second-degree murder and imprisoned for the crime, serving 44 months in jail before their convictions were overturned.

Mr Martens is a retired FBI agent while Molly married Mr Corbett in June 2011 after travelling to Ireland to work as a nanny for the Irish widower’s children.

The pair insist that they acted in self-defence when they beat Mr Corbett to death. Both were found totally uninjured at the scene.

In March, the father and daughter were granted a retrial, which is likely to take place next year.

Earlier today, Jason’s sister Tracey Corbett Lynch took to Twitter to highlight the impact that her brother’s murder has had on their family, including his two children, Sarah and Jack Corbett.

She also called for Molly and Tom Martens to be brought to justice.

She said: “It is impossible for me to quantify the impact of Jason’s murder. But a prison sentence for life would contribute to Jack & Sarah being able to put the past behind them… it would help them grieve and close this chapter of their lives.

“Never again having to see their own names used in an effort by the perpetrators to publicly shame, humiliate & harass them again. Six years and four months ago Jason was brutally murdered by Molly and Tom Martens. Since March ‘21 they live a life of freedom after less than 4 years in jail.
