An Irish woman was one of two people arrested for stealing power tools in a series of burglaries in England last month.

The woman (24), from Waterford, teamed up with a 65-year-old local man to carry out a string of eight break-ins in Fordingbridge, Hampshire on the night of April 2.

The pair targeted garages and sheds across several locations including Newgrounds and Southampton Road in Godshill, and Moot Lane in Hale.

An investigation was subsequently launched and local police identified the two suspects a month later on Saturday, May 7.

The man and woman had been spotted in a vehicle at the junction of Chestnut Avenue and Stoneham Lane in Eastleigh, a town about 35 minutes from Fordingbridge.

Following a search of the vehicle, police discovered a haul of power tools including an angle grinder, a chainsaw, and a leaf blower, along with general tools and a toolbox.

Both the man and woman were arrested on suspicion of burglary and handling stolen goods. They were later released under investigation pending further enquiries.
