Shocking video footage being shared on social media shows disturbing scenes

A horde of football hooligans caused chaos in Dublin on Sunday afternoon ahead of the FAI Cup final.

More than 37,000 fans made their way to the Aviva Stadium at 4pm to watch St Patrick’s Athletic triumph against Bohemians FC yesterday.

St Patrick's Athletic won 4-3 on penalties during extra time after the teams were level at 1-1 at full time.

Before the game kicked off, however, there was an outbreak of violence as two groups clashed at the pub on Irishtown Road.

Shocking video footage being shared on social media shows disturbing scenes as football fans began to attack The Irishtown House pub with bottles and fireworks.

The pub, which is near the stadium where the game kicked off at 4pm, was being used a pre-game venue for St Patrick’s Athletic supporters and many families with young children were in the establishment when the disturbance broke out.

Gardai at the scene

Videos show a group dressed in black scuffling outside the bar while bottles and fireworks are thrown and a man with his face covered is seen throwing an object towards the bar.

“Watch your head, watch your head,” an onlooker calls as another man ducks while flares narrowly miss him.

A man wearing all black can also be seen striking another man in the face outside the pub before crowds begin to take over nearby streets.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted and quickly arrived at the scene.

A garda spokesperson told sundayworld.com: “Garda Síochána is aware of an incident that occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, 28th November, 2021, on the Irishtown Road, Dublin 4.

“Order was quickly restored by Gardaí who attended the scene. Investigations into this matter are ongoing.”
