A pair of Versace sliders were among the €5.4 million worth of property and goods seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau last year.

The luxury footwear which retails for over €300 were seized along with designer watches, jackets and top-end cars.

Audis proved popular for those with spare proceeds of crime cash to spend with an RS, a Q7 and the A3, A4, and A6 versions of the marque all seized.

Sixty-seven warrants were issued targeting organised crime gangs in 2020 while 31 Proceeds of Crime applications were made to the courts - most involving drug trafficking.

The Chief Bureau Officer of CAB said the most unusual item seized by officers last year was a gyroplane.

"Did we get everything back that criminals are engaged with? No...but we have to do it and our objective is to deny and deprive."

Two properties, two plots of land, four cars, a motorbike, Rolex, Breitling and Cartier watches, a diamond ring and over €16,000 in cash was all seized from just one member of the Kinahan organised crime group.

There were 45 individuals and corporate entities assessed as owing over €10 million in tax of which 26 were served with demands for over €8.7 million.

Another €2.1 million was recovered in total from 64 individuals and businesses while ten settled for over €1.7 million.
