Two men charged after cannabis worth €2 million seized in Drogheda, Co Louth
Gardai found around 100 kilograms of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €2,000,000
Two men have been charged after following the seizure of 100kg of cannabis in an operation targeting an organised crime gang.
The drugs, with an estimated street value of €2 million, were discovered during an operation carried out by gardaí and Revenue in Drogheda, Co Louth on Friday, April 29.
The haul was found after gardaí searched a house under warrant in the Drogheda area.
During the search, gardaí found around 100 kilograms of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €2,000,000 that was seized by Revenue officers.
Two men, aged 49 and 65, were arrested at the scene in connection with the seizure and detained at Drogheda Garda Station.

The men have since been charged and are due to appear before a special sitting of Drogheda District Court, at 11:00am this morning, Sunday, May 1, 2022.
A garda spokesman said the seizure was made as part of a probe in an organised crime group operating in the area.
"As part of an ongoing investigations targeting persons suspected to be involved in an organised crime group operating in the Louth area, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Drogheda Divisional Drugs Unit conducted a Joint Operation with personnel attached to the Revenue Customs Service today, Friday the 29th of April 2022.
"During the course of this operation, a premises in the Drogheda area was searched. Approximately 100 kilograms of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €2,000,000 was seized by Revenue Officers.
"Two men, aged in their 60s and 40s, were arrested at the scene. They were taken to Drogheda Garda Station where they are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996."
