Drugs sting Two men arrested as Gardaí seize suspected cannabis, weapons and cash in Co Clare search

Gardaí in Co. Clare have arrested two men and seized more than €60,000 worth of suspected drugs, cash and weapons.

Shortly after 10am on Friday 14th May, Gardaí conducted a number of searches in the Ennistymon area of Clare after acquiring search warrants.

The operation was assisted by the Garda Dog Unit, Armed Support Unit, the Divisional Drugs Unit, Customs Revenue Officers, and Social Welfare Inspectors.

During the searches, gardaí seized €40,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb and a sum of cash believed to amount to €20,000.

Weapons including two suspected imitation firearms, slash hooks, knives, hatchets, and a baton were also confiscated.

Two men, aged in their 20s and 50s, were arrested and are currently detained at Kilrush Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

The suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
