Two people were arrested in connection to an aggravated burglary in a Cork home yesterday, in which the intruders doused the place in petrol.

At around 5am on Sunday, two people were reported to have forcibly entered a home in Skibbereen and then threatened the three people present inside.

The home was then drenched in petrol and all of the occupants of the house were threatened with a knife throughout the incident.

Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported and no property was reported as stolen.

After some enquiries, gardai later arrested a man in his twenties and woman in her forties in connection to the incident.

Both of them were detained at Bantry Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act of 1984.

Later, both were charged and they are now due to appear before Bandon District Court at 10.30am on Monday, January 18.
