Car-nage Tipperary gardai arrest man after cars set on fire, damaged and broken into in Clonmel

Gardai have appealed for witnesses as they investigate seven incidents of arson, criminal damage and theft, in Clonmel, Co Tipperary overnight.

A man in his 20s is being questioned by gardai as part of the probe.

“Gardaí have arrested a man in relation to seven incidents of criminal damage, arson and theft in Clonmel on June 16, 2021.

"Between 11pm and midnight, two cars were set on fire, two were damaged, and three were broken into,” a Garda spokesman said.

The incidents occurred at O' Connell Court, Old Waterford Road, and at Friary Car Park in the town.

“A man, aged in his 20s, was later arrested in connection with these incidents and he is currently detained at Clonmel Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984,” said the spokesman.

“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to any of these incidents, or any persons who may have been subject to similar crimes during the course of the night, to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052-6177640,” they added.
