Three to appear in court over two Cork drug hauls worth €120k

Three people have been charged in connection with two huge drugs hauls in Cork on Friday as part of Operation Tara.

The first case saw gardaí attached to Cork Divisional Drugs Unit and Mayfield Drugs Unit seize €60,000 of cannabis weighing 3kg following a search of a car at John Horgan Quay, Cork City at 4pm.

The driver, a woman in her 30s, was arrested and taken to Mayfield Garda Station, where she was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

She is expected to appear before a sitting of Cork City District Court No. 1 on Monday, May 30 at 10.30am, charged in connection with the case.

In a separate case, two men were arrested after gardaí attached the Cork Divisional Drugs Unit stopped and searched them at Kent Railway Station shortly before 7.45pm.

During the search, officers recovered 0.45kg of diamorphine with a street value of approximately €62,000.

Both men, aged in their 20s and 50s, were arrested and taken to Gurranbraher Garda Station where they were detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

They are expected to appear before a sitting of Cork City District Court No. 1 on Monday, May 30 at 10.30am, charged in connection with the case.
