Three men have been charged over an alleged axe attack in Dublin's city centre that went viral on social media. 

Footage of the incident was posted on social media earlier this month appeared to show one man swinging an axe at another man's head.

Another man can be seen throwing a bike at one of his rivals.

Gardaí confirmed to the Sunday World that they have apprehended three males in their early twenties on Monday, November 16, in relation to the incident.

They were subsequently charged and brought before a court on Tuesday.

Officers have also confirmed that investigations into the alleged assault remain ongoing.

“Gardaí apprehended three males in their early twenties in relation to this incident on Monday, 16th November 2020,” read the statement.

“These males have since been charged and brought before CCJ3 on Tuesday, 17th November 2020 and investigations remain ongoing.”
